Prince Louis is splashing into a new year on his 8th birthday!
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s youngest son turned 8 on Thursday, April 23, and the royal couple released a new video of their birthday boy to thank well-wishers for their messages.
“Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great!” the Prince and Princess of Wales’ team wrote below the clip shared to Instagram.
The video set to twinkling music showed Louis digging by the beach, sporting a wetsuit by the water, playing cricket and jumping into the sea, where he made an awesome splash.
The camera cut to the young royal running fast towards the camera, as the clip faded to a close.
Prince Louis showed off his sporty side in his sweet birthday video, athleticism he’s inherited from both his mom and dad!
Prince William and Princess Kate’s new video of Louis followed the release of a traditional birthday portrait shared earlier on Thursday.
“Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today! 🎈,” courtiers wrote below the photo.
Prince Louis crossed his arms and flashed a smile in that shot, where he wore a blue knit zip-up sweater and struck a pose before the sea.
The snap was captured earlier in April during a family vacation to the seaside region of Cornwall and taken by Matt Porteous, one of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ go-to photographers for personal moments.

Prince Louis is the youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are also parents to Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10.
The family of five most recently stepped out together to attend church on Easter Sunday, April 5, with King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis matched in a fashion statement for the outing at Windsor Castle, where the boys’ pale blue ties coordinated with their sister’s dress.
