Piers Morgan has called Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘whiny money-grabbers’ and says their truce with William is ‘all for show’ following the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
The former Good Morning Britain host, 57, has hit out at Harry and Meghan in his latest column where he suggests that their recent ‘truce’ with Prince William and Kate Middleton is ‘all for show’.
The TV star, who has faced intense criticism over the past year for his controversial opinions on Harry and Meghan, has asked his fans to not ‘fall for’ their recent display of decorum amid their ongoing rumoured rift with the Royal family.
This comes following their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March last year – where former actress Meghan explained that she never felt accepted into the Royal family.
“Don’t be misled by the scenes of supposed hatchet-burying between William and his brother over the weekend,” Piers penned in his latest column as he remained suss about the brothers’ relationship.
“That was a show of forced unity to wrestle media attention away from their rift to their grandmother in the run-up to her state funeral next Monday.
“All you need to know about how deep their split goes is that when Harry went to Balmoral as the Queen died, and stayed until the following morning, he reportedly had no contact with William the entire time despite them being in the same building,” Piers suggested.
Piers went on to insist that he’s not ‘fooled’ by Harry and William’s attempts to put on a united front following the death of the Queen last Thursday.
“I applaud their temporary truce as a mark of respect for their grandmother, which is something she would have desperately wanted, but I’m not fooled by it. The depth of ill feeling between them, and their wives, runs very deep,” he added.
Never one to praise Harry and Meghan, Piers went on to dub them ‘whiny money-grabbers’ after causing ‘havoc’ amid the Royal family in recent years.
“Queen Elizabeth II espoused values of honesty, integrity, decency, stoicism, resilience, duty, service, humility and selfless devotion to her country. How does any of that compare to the selfish, whiny, money-grabbing and damaging way Harry and Meghan have conducted themselves since then?
“Their hypocritical exploitation of their royal status for vast personal financial gain, while simultaneously trashing the institution that bestowed their titles upon them, caused enormous hurt to the Queen in her last few years, especially during the period when her husband, Philip, was seriously ill and then died, and to the new king,” he added.
Last week, following the news of Queen Elizabeth’s death at 96, Piers Morgan was one of the first celebrities to pay tribute to the monarch.
Piers described the queen as ‘dignified, humble, wise, stoic, and dedicated to duty and service to the country she loved’, as well as the ‘greatest monarch in history and the greatest of Britons’.
