George, Charlotte and Louis appear in a new video from Catherine, Princess of Wales, in which she talks about how going through chemotherapy for cancer has affected her family.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” the former Kate Middleton captioned a moving Instagram video of herself, her husband Prince William and their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

The video reveals the silly nature of their children, who jostle each other to speak into the camera. “Is this filming?” asked Prince George, with Prince Louis saying, “Hello?”

The video, shot by London-based filmmaker Will Warr, depicts the family walking through a wooded area, playing on a swing set, climbing on a pile of logs and partaking in a picnic. In other sequences, Middleton drives a car, William removes what’s seemingly a bug from Charlotte’s hair and the family runs through ocean waves.

The royal couple, who are seldomly physical in public, also cuddle while laying in a field.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” Middleton continued in the caption, which she also narrated throughout the footage.

“Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she added. “The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.

“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,” said Middleton. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

Middleton’s cancer diagnosis came as a bombshell after her prolonged absence from the spotlight leading up to her March 2024 announcement. In an Instagram video, Middleton said she learned her diagnosis after having abdominal surgery in January of that year.

“It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be OK,” Middleton said in the March video.

Middleton has been rarely seen since, except for an appearance at June’s Trooping the Color event with her family.

In the new video, Middleton said that staying cancer-free is her priority.

“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said. “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

Middleton added that she is embarking on “this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life” and shared a message to cancer patients.

“To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey — I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
